Helpful Tips to Help Your Pet Learn To Use Its New Ramp!
Acclimate Your Pet
Leave the ramp on the floor near your pet for a couple of days. Let your dog or cat get used to the look, feel, or smell.
After a day or so, try putting your pet's bowl or favorite toy on the ramp.
For a cat, try rubbing the ramp with a handful of catnip. This can help calm the cat as well hide any 'new plastic' smells.
With the ramp flat on the floor, encourage your pet to walk back and forth on it.
When they're willing to do this, try using a book or other sturdy item to raise it by a few inches.
If needed, put one hand on your pet's collar or back to steady them while they get used to the raised surface.
Try placing treats or favorite toys on the upper part of the ramp so your pet will have to climb to get them.
Gradually increase height until it's at the level that which it will be used.
Block the sides with boxes or have someone stand on either side of the ramp to keep your pet calm the first few times you use it at height.
Make sure the ramp is not too short. If it's too steep for your pet to climb comfortably, contact us about trading for one of our 55" ramps.
Relax and enjoy watching your pet get where it needs to go!
